Tales that show us a completely different side of some of the Sanctuary characters...

Sanctuary Tales consists of six short stories that are connected in some way to the Sanctuary Series. Defender, Avenger, Champion, Crusader and coming soon in 2014 Thy Father’s Shadow: A Sanctuary Novel and Master: The Sanctuary Series, Volume Five.

Familiar Face: Incredibly beautiful. This is a short tale that fits into the Sanctuary series Defender: The Sanctuary Series, Volume One. The main character Cyrus returns to his hometown for a short visit. During his short stay he realizes that his decision to join the Sanctuary and the events he has endured since have changed his life in ways he can’t even begin to fathom.The story gives a short insight into the series, which is an epic fantasy about a Guild of mercenaries that consists of men, elves, trolls, magick users and other beings of the fantastical variety.

Savages: This is a superb novella which is an add-on to the Sanctuary series Defender: The Sanctuary Series, Volume One and Avenger: The Sanctuary Series, Volume Two. It gives the reader a little more insight into the main character of Cyrus. In this book Cyrus is roped into a mission that will reap a vast fortune at the end. Unbeknownst to him the troll Vaste, who he hates with a passion, is along for the ride. The mission, the surprises they encounter and the unexpected danger they are confronted with, changes Cyrus and teaches him an important lesson.
I loved the close look at the relationship between the two men or troll and man. The banter between them is witty and the subtle message that Cyrus learns is one that we should all take on board. On a more jovial note if I ever want to insult a troll I shall call him an elf girl.

The Last Moments of Gezhvet: The last moments of Narstron, during the battle against the goblins. How very sad and disappointing, because I was hoping there might be a glimmer of hope. Instead the story left me with a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Something Crane is known for is his ruthlessness when it comes to the fates of characters, especially ones the readers become attached to.

The Greenest Fields: Tells the back-story of Martaina Proelius, whilst simultaneously telling a story that takes place in the present, and I have to say it gives a lot of insight into her character. The reasons for her aloofness and her apparent icy disposition. The heartbreak she has had to endure and yet she still had to be strong and uphold the ways and myths of her ancient roots. The reality of her position and what she wishes and yet knows will never come to pass because of who she is.

A Princess of Sovar: The tale and discovery of Erith. As yet an unknown entity but I suspect she will become relevant in the next few books because she stems from the same place as another of our well-known Sanctuary characters. What exactly can they see in her and how will she play a role in what is to come, if indeed she does at all?

Thieving Ways: What? Really? You just had to go there and throw a huge devious spanner in the works. I knew it, I just knew something was dodgy. Aisling has always been snooty and difficult but this? The implications for Sanctuary are immense and devastating. The only redeemable fact was the essence of humanity that shines through in her reasoning. The why is important, but if she achieves her goal will the why matter at all in the grand scheme of things?

Thieving Ways is Crane’s way of leaving the reader with just enough information to satisfy their appetite and at the same time start them craving the next installment. It is what makes him such a good writer.

Sanctuary Tales, Volume One in a necessary volume in the Sanctuary Series. This volume of short stories provides valuable information to Sanctuary fans. Do you want further insight into your favorite characters? This book delivers it. Do you want to to know "the rest of the story?" There is some of that too. It also answers nagging questions that might have been left lingering in the full volumes. Could you get by without reading it? No, I don't think so. Not if you truly love the series and you want in on all of the secrets. Sanctuary fans will not be disappointed.

Backstories For Main Characters

This collection of stories fills in the gaps left in the major books.

In the first story, "Savages", we get the background story of Brevis, the gnome who brought about the schism in Sanctuary and the resulting exodus of about half its members when Orion left. In this story, we also see more of Cyrus' period of mourning after the death of Narstron, and we get to see the process that took place as Cyrus learned to first trust, and later on, to actually like and respect Vaste, the Troll.

The second story, "A Familiar Face", concerns Cyrus, his ex-wife, Imina, and the memory gaps left when someone is killed and resurrected.

The third story, "The Last Moments of the Gezhvet" shows us what exactly happened when Narstron was killed, by who and why, and we see that Cyrus was right when he told the Gatekeeper that he knew Narstron died as a warrior. We also learn more about soul rubies, and about who Malpravus is and what his motives and goals are.

The Fourth story, "The Greenest Fields" concerns Martaina. We learn how she grew up, as an Iliarad'ouran Elf, one of those who eschewed the more modern ways of the City Elves and eked out a living in the forest. She was one of the last of these, and, as her family is wiped out by the King's guards, she leaves for a life outside of the woods.

The fifth story, "A Princess of Sovar", is about Erith Frostmoor, born and orphaned in Sovar. We get to see what society is like there, the stratification and absence of any way for those on the bottom to climb higher. We learn a bit about Terian's father, Amenon Lepos, and see the process for weeding out those with magical ability. We watch while Erith is elevated above her peers, the dregs of society, simply because she has magical ability, and transferred to the Leagues for training.

The sixth, and final story, is the most important to us going forward. We learn about Aisling, where she came from, who she is, and why she is outside of Saekaj Sovar. It's the most surprising of all of them, and has enormous implications for the overall series as it continues. As a result of this story, we get to see a lot of Saekaj, and how the upper strata lives. We see inside the Sovereign's palace, meet several principal characters who will feature prominently in the main series, or in Terian's, and finally understand what motivates Aisling in her quest to seduce Cyrus. It's a chilling story.

This is a must read addition to the series, but one that shouldn't be read until after Book Four, because of the spoilers it contains. It should be read before Terian's series begins (Thy Father's Shadow), which is the more fascinating of these two extra books, simply because it's the beginning of a trilogy, and therefore has much more character development and detail than the short stories are able to have.

Buy it. It's a 5 Star addition to the main story.

An Essential Graphology Reference Work

HANDWRITING PSYCHOLOGY is a masterwork filled on every page with numerous nuggets of wisdom. Dr. Ploog teaches graphology in Europe and edits a prestigious German graphology journal. Because of these factors, this gives us a unique opportunity to learn from a handwriting expert with a key and different perspective. In a very concise manner, Dr. Ploog has synthesized numerous complex ideas and presented them in a straightforward and easy to understand way. The book is written for an American audience.

One of the measures of a good graphology book is the use of examples, and HANDWRITING PSYCHOLOGY is filled with them. Included are the handwritings of Walt Disney, Thorton Wilder, Hillary Clinton, physicist Robert Oppenheimer, Winston Churchill and many others.

In analyzing a handwriting, it is fairly easy to sketch out a quick analysis. For instance, is the writing organized or disorganized, written quickly or slowly, does it show creative forms and so on. The real task of the serious student is to get to the SECOND LEVEL OF ANALYSIS which involves many other factors such as ascertaining the Form Level and form of movement, e.g., whether it is "taut or elastic, slack, congested or overextended." Dr. Ploog's book is filled with these kind of nuanced second level factors that must be considered for the analyst to truly create a well-rounded and in-depth assessment of the handwriting being studied.

The First Step In Your Graphology Future

I am not a newcomer to graphology, having worked in this field for the past 15 years. The book is very concise and presents an essential overview of graphology in a professional and academic way. It is a very well rounded book that includes information on almost every facet of graphology, including the introduction of several studies and the research that supports it. There are many books on the market about graphology. Some go into detail about particular systems or schools of thought. Some are written in a less than serious tone. This one is very neutral and contains what you really need to know to get your appetite whetted and for you to take the next step: education and training in graphology. This is the stepping stone, so to speak. Dr Ploog knows what he is talking about and most of all how to explain it, which is very important and half the battle won. A well thought out and researched book with excellent images. If you would like to understand more about the German approach to graphology, then this is also the book for you. If you intend to practise graphology in Europe, then this book is well worth the read.

A Concise Introduction to European Graphology

In this slim book you will enjoy a clear, concise explanation of sound, long established graphological principles which does not suffer from the kinds of amateurish over-simplifications encountered in books which are based on an isolated evaluation of minute graphic indicators. This book is very unique as far as graphology books is concerned. It was written by an expert and an established authority in the field who has both lectured in graphology within a University setting and has practiced it professionally. Although there are no books on handwriting analysis which will turn one into an expert overnight, this is probably the best short introduction to the subject currently in existence because it makes the reader aware of the unrealized scope and potential of handwriting investigation when it is practiced by one who recognizes its true scholarly depth and isn't simply peddling a superficial, non-sensical fortune telling gig. Therefore, it should be one of the first books picked up by the student (or simply the curious reader), who wants to learn more about the subject without burying himself in the field or exposing himself to bad graphology. Anyone who reads this book will recognize foremost that graphology isn't an occult science but enjoys intimate relations with modern psychology. It is these relations which are explored in the book and which both entertain and fascinate the reader. Lastly, I should also like to mention that as one who is thoroughly versed in European graphology this book actually taught me some things that I didn't know (and I've read literally hundreds of books on the subject!

I loved how each piece of armor was described and the importance of wearing it daily in our earthly walks. I also enjoyed the biblical verses referenced in this book, as it guided me to reading the entire chapter or in some cases the entire book (e.g. Esther). I've already recommended this book to individuals in my church family & my bff(my sister) and will continue to share this book. It's a super quick read! Tho the devil will fight you through gaining the knowledge this book offers.

About the Author
A.J. (Lonnie) Strickland received a BS in Math and Physics from the University of Georgia, an MS in Industrial Management from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a PhD from Georgia State university. He currently holds the rank of Professor of Strategic Management in the Graduate School of Business at the University of Alabama. He has done extensive consulting and research work. In recent years, he was honored with the Outstanding Professor Award for the Graduate School of Business, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award for the University of Alabama.

John E. Gamble is currently Associate Dean and Professor of Management in the Mitchell College of Business at the University of South Alabama. His teaching specialty at USA is strategic management and he also conducts a course in strategic management in Germany, which is sponsored by the University of Applied Sciences in Worms.

Dr. Gamble's research interests center on strategic issues in entrepreneurial, health care, and manufacturing settings. His work has been published in various scholarly journals and he is the author or co-author of more than 50 case studies published in an assortment of strategic management and strategic marketing texts. He has done consulting on industry and market analysis for clients in a diverse mix of industries.

Professor Gamble received his Ph.D. in management from the University of Alabama in 1995. Dr. Gamble also has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alabama.

Make Sure You Get The Right Version!!!!

This is the "Concepts and Readings" text.

There is another text that looks EXACTLY the same except for the subtitle.

That book is the "Concepts and Cases" text, and it ALSO has an 18e on it.

When your instructor assigns a case study, you'll be up a creek if you don't have the "Concepts and Cases".

I'm giving it one star because if they're going to make a third of the book have completely different content, they ought not to have the exact same title, edition number, and front cover illustration as the other version.

Note: This book is nearly identical to the latest edition. The only difference is picture on the front, fonts used, page numbers, and some of the problems at the end of the chapters were simply rearranged (compared it with a classmate's). DO NOT fall for the whole "you need the latest edition" requirement. It is downright crooked for a publishing company to change such minor things, call it a newer edition, and up the price to hundreds of dollars. It's also heartless for a professor in a college of business to force his students to pay hundreds of dollars for something so similar to a book that only costs $40 or $50. Buy the next latest edition of any book you purchase and save a ton of money!

Careful who you buy from

The problem I had was seller of this product. He was located in Honolulu Hawaii and had an extremely difficult time getting the product to me. He was late shipping the merchandise and then could not track or locate the product in transit. What should've taken days ended up taking weeks and inevitably a month to arrive, by this time the book arrived it was trivial and no longer necessary since I had purchased the product from another source. I informed the seller of the problem and he refused to take it back stating that once the product is shipped it is my responsibility, unfortunately this is not the case since he paid the shipping all shipping responsibilities are the product of the sender. The product took longer to arrive than what was advertised taking 42 days. I contacted Amazon and Amazon agreed that this product was the fault of the shipping company and should be taken back by the seller. Again the seller refused to take back his product stating that “that he could not resell it and that I should resell the book” I forwarded his response to Amazon and they apologized for his actions. Unfortunately I am now stuck with two identical books.
Overall the book is an excellent book in strategic management though is slowly growing out of date due to the new addition that has been released. I would recommend this product as a resource.
