I must point out the cover shows Jim Sukach is the author- Not Corvino, its a mystery as to how anyone could miss the clue on the cover (just joking) My younger sons enjoy these easy mystery stories where the smallest clues are sometimes the most important clue of all.

Good Intermediate level book

I have the first volume and I liked so I ordered the second volume. Lots of puzzles that are challenging. This is a great puzzle book for those looking for intermediate level puzzles. By intermediate I mean puzzles that dont give you a clue, like clue you in on what to look for Mate in 3, find the pin, find the fork etc... So if you already have an understanding of basic tactical motifs you will like this book. If you are just starting off and dont have a grasp of basic tactics then you may not like this book at this stage. What is really apealling about the puzzles is that you are not always going to get a mate or go up a big piece. Many of the puzzles involve creating a threat and going up a pawn and a few puzzles you need to recognize the position is lost and go for a draw. And in real play you will find one pawn can be the difference between a win and a loss. When I was first working out the problems I was thinking They were using the same puzzles as the previous book, but I did not find a duplicate and realize that its my pattern recognition that has improved. The puzzles are from real games and if you are a clubhouse/coffee shop player your going to see these motifs appear a lot. It is an excellent book, lots of puzzles and great practice. like the first volume, this is a nice book.

A great way to study chess!

I have Palliser's 'The Complete Chess Workout' and I enjoyed it, so when this second volume came out, I knew that I needed it buy it as well and to buy a second copy for a friend of mine.

I often do not the time to sit down and play out the moves in a game, so I find puzzle books like these to be ideal for momentary diversions from my daily tasks.

The most useful Dutch grammar you will ever need

Somewhere out there there may be a more comprehensive Dutch grammar for English speakers, but you won't need it unless you are a scholar. This book covers pretty much every useful grammatical topic you will need for learning Dutch. Thankfully, Dutch is not a particularly difficult language for English speakers, so that fact helps keep the size of this grammar manageable. Any assiduous student should be able to master it in less that six months. After reading it you should be able to read any newspaper; and although speaking is a totally different animal, there is no reason you should not have a good grounding in speaking proper Dutch. The book, however, does not delve into colloquialisms to a great degree.

Great Dutch grammar

That's a very good grammar. I'm a Portuguese native speaker and it is very difficult to a Latin language speaker to learn a Germanic language, but this grammar made it easier. It even helped me with the German language. This one is great for beginners, everyone should buy it. With this book I was glad twice: I started to study an interesting language (Dutch) and I began to understand a very difficult language (German). Buy it, you won't be disappointed. It gives you a comprehensive explanation about all points of the Dutch language.

A Dutch Grammer for English Speakers

Bruce Donaldson is the doyen of English Dutch Teachers and his Comprehensive Grammar is far and away the best Dutch Grammer aimed at English speaking students available--far better than Professor Shetter's grammar cum text. It is an excellent reference grammar with clear explanations that do not require an in-depth understanding of generic grammatical terms. It is best used in conjunction with a text as a reference book. If you want to "read through" a brief summary of Dutch grammar, try Stern's Essential Grammar.

I found most of the book to be a rehash of other material Oracle published. Most of the SQL I would not consider advanced. I felt if a intermediate at best. I bought this book about 6 months ago and after reading I have only used it once or twice as reference. There is some stuff in one of the middle chapters, but overall I was disappointed.

has some good points, but incomplete thoughts

I must first of all say that I am by no means a Biblical scholar. I am not a regular church goer, although I have been considering my faith lately. This book was suggest to me by a good friend. Pastor MacArthur makes some good observations regarding the current state of the American Family. Certainly, many issues would be resolved if the family unit in America was strengthened, and I think few people would dispute that. Despite that fact, I found Pastor MacArthur's arguments to be incomplete, and that he would come to conclusions with fully explaining how he got there. I felt some of his arguments were hard to follow. I was also disappointed when at time he seems to be talking about the individual and how they can live their life according to His Word, but then seemed to get side tracked with a commentary about society in general. I expected this to be more help to better myself, but found that it was more of a commentary rather than a plan of action.

Great biblical insight but wondered where the Scripture was to support that women cannot read Scripture in public. Felt that he was limiting God in a few areas with his personal view but is definitely a man of the Word and a great biblical scholar.

Did I just criticize John MacArthur?

Meh
The chapter on singleness made it sound like having a spouse gets in the way of serving the Lord -- rather than focusing on the unique ministry of singles (especially in a world that regards chastity as inhumane), the author focused on the negatives of marriage. But I watch my momma make every word, thought, gesture, and feeling captive to the obedience of Christ, while I struggle to work for God and not for man as a single person (before I was ever in a relationship).
Also, instead of the negatives of feminism, how are the beauties of God's design so blinding so as to show how ugly feminism has been from the beginning? Pointing upwards would make better evangelism.
The first half was helpful. The section on the Proverbs 31 woman was exhausting. How do I become this woman? Mere sleep deprivation won't make me like her. His exegesis on deaconesses was interesting.
CS Lewis' That Hideous Strength, Keller's The Meaning of Marriage, and Gary Thomas' Sacred Marriage make a far more convincing case for the beauty of God's design for men and women.

Ms. Roth has done a remarkable job of taking impecable research regarding the 9/11 False Flag Operation and incorporating it into a very readable novel.... but do not doubt that the information contained in this particular novel is all real and true... Her perspective as a career flight attendant adds points of view and information that only those in the airline industry can share... Definately worth your time and money..!

I find it refreshing to know that there are other people in America that are aware that the September 11th attack on America was not accomplished by a rag tag team of terrorist unable to fly a very basic Cessna 172 but somehow they were capable of flying sophisticated Boeing 767s with enough precision to hit a target that pilots with 30,000 hours of flight time could not do in a simulator.
This book is non-fiction wrapped in a novel. There is so much more written between the lines if you are willing to find it and understand what she is trying to say. For example, go to pilots for 911 truth on the internet to find out so much more about where she finds corroboration for her story.

The short-short essay form seems to inspire people to write about nature. Though some are flaccid, the best, such as Kathleen Norris's paean to rain and Donald Hall's wry notes about the joy we take in suffering bad weather, connect natural events to humanity. Short memoirs are poignant, and the form cuts away any sentimentality. In three paragraphs, Stuart Dybek recalls the summer nights when drivers would occasionally pass through his neighborhood with their headlights off, and Henry Louis Gates Jr. gives his family's reasoning about why white people are poor cooks. Within such a short form, the spaces between things become paramountand in the best cases make exposition unnecessary. Judson Mitcham tells of feeding his mother in the hospital, then spotting a mass of starlings on his way home. In recalling the 50 pounds of moose meat her father gave her when she departed for college in the '60s, Brenda Peterson easily explains the food chain and her place in it. The editors contribute a cogent introduction on this innovative form, and Bernard Cooper writes in his preface about how small events become powerful, then demonstrates just that principle with a concluding meditation on sighing that is both sad and funny.

Somewhat less informational than standard essays, these nonfiction shorts focus on distilled insights, scenes, and memories. Indeed, many of the writers showcased here are best known for their poetry (e.g., Donald Hall, Maxine Kumin, Rita Dove); some, such as Diane Ackerman, Henry Louis Gates Jr., and Lee Gutkind (Creative Nonfiction, LJ 4/1/96), are seasoned in nonfiction; others are less well known. The editors have artfully arranged the works so that a theme or keyword thread connects each writing to the next one. For example, "Across the Street," an essay about a dying neighbor, is followed by "A Wind from the North," which reminisces about a recently deceased uncle. Yet each gem stands on its own.
