great book... a classic

This book should be a required book for every engineer who works with drive-line dynamics issues. The book is well organized and the content is timeless. It's amazing: we haven't made any progress on the publication of drive-line torsional vibration since the publication of this book.

A Masterpiece in Torsional Vibration

This book is a true classic in the study of torsional vibration of engine crankshafts. Long out of print, I was estatic when I found out it was being reprinted. Highly recommended to the mechanical engineer who wants to understand the classic methodology of the subject.

This book supplied exactly what I was looking for: a comprehensive guide to applying Holzer method torsional vibration analysis to an engine crankshaft. It is well-organized and the mathematics are not out of hand although you will need some understanding of differential equations. There are lots of graphs and visual representations. I tend to prefer texts from this era (First published in 1958) to more modern publications that tend to dive into matrices and never surface. One thing I especially appreciated was that for every step of analysis Nestorides presents the formulas and methods used by other big names in this field (Timoshenko, Den Hartog, Griffeth and Taylor, etc.) for comparison.
