Being Aware & Mindful Can Improve Your Life in Many Ways

One of the things I often recommend to friends, clients and listeners on my radio show is to be aware of what is happening around them - for many reasons, not the least of which is for their safety. There are other reasons to be aware or as Wil Dieck discusses in his book - being mindful. Mindful of yourself, your feelings, your emotions and much more.

I enjoyed how he explains mindfulness and how it impacts so many factors in your life. Once you have a clear idea of what mindfulness is and how it affects you - he clearly lays out how to improve your mindfulness, how to meditate and how to relax. I need a lot of help with learning to relax and there is a full chapter on relaxation.

Understand the difference between "being" and "doing". The chapter on emotional awareness is very helpful - also learning how to handle distractions. You will be amazed at how beneficial it is to learn to breath - and using deep breathing. We all have plenty of stress, anxiety and distractions. We can let these things derail us and create havoc in our lives, or we can understand how to increase our awareness and mindfulness. I think you will be amazed how much life can change and improve when you master these things in your life. The content in this book will help you to do that.

There are some editing issues but they shouldn't distract you from the meat of the message.

Blueprint for Personal Transformation!!!

If I could go back in time and give my 5 year old self some advise; it would be to MEDITATE!

16 years ago I started my own journey to knowing myself... and it started with MEDITATION! I started practicing mindfulness and didn't even know it by that name.

I LOVE Professor D's focus on the present because it's true; the past and the future do not exist, the only thing that matters is this very moment. I do think we should learn from the past and prepare for the future by what we do, in this present moment.

Here are a few things you will learn by reading Modern Mindfulness:
1. Breaking mental patterns that do not serve you.
2. How less can lead to more.
3. How being tolerant builds a strong character.
4. Learn why there's power in forgiving yourself.
5. The importance of NOW; stop existing and start living.
6. Practical explanations of the benefits of mindfulness.
7. and some much more... too much to list them all!

This book is an easy read with lots of information; I LOVE the Actionable steps to implementing the strategies in your everyday life.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has the courage to take their life to the next level and beyond!!!

Quick read with great advice on living in the present

The primary message of Modern Mindfulness is to live in and fully experience the present. Worry and anxiety stem from stressing about the future, and depression often results from focusing on past mistakes. In our busy lives, we do a lot of things on “autopilot” with our minds in one place and our bodies in another. Wil Dieck’s book teaches the reader how to instead be fully engaged in the present, shifting from “doing mode” into “being mode,” and experiencing life with the five senses. Some of his techniques include deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, visualization and walking mindfulness. There were some grammatical and spelling errors in the book, but the material was very good.
